What yacht charter are you looking for?
Greece Yacht Charter
A Greece yacht charter lets you explore the best Greek islands on your own terms—privately, comfortably, and with a full crew at your service. Imagine cruising through turquoise waters on your luxury motor yacht or catamaran, with a local expert at the helm and a personal chef catering to your every need. Fill your itinerary with fun activities like exploring ancient ruins, sipping cocktails on the beach, trying new water toys, swimming in secluded bays, and tasting the very best of the world-famous Greek cuisine.
Most charters start in Athens and head to either the Saronic Gulf—ideal for short island hops and calmer seas—or the Cyclades Islands, home to icons like Mykonos and Santorini, but more weather-dependent.
Charter Rates start from around €15,000 per week, plus 25–40% in expenses (APA), 12% VAT, and crew gratuity.

Greece Yacht Charter Highlights
Everyone has heard of Mykonos and Santorini—but they’re not why sailors come back to Greece. With years of experience on the water and conversations with hundreds of Captains, we know the places worth reaching by yacht. Think Wild cliffside anchorages, traditional tavernas with no road in, and islands where you can tie stern to the rocks and dive into crystal clear water.
⚲ Cyclades Islands
EXPLORE THE PIRATE CAVES OF MILOS
We always recommend a stop at Milos, voted the number one island in the Cyclades by Captains. Once a pirate hideout, its caves and secret beaches are only accessible by boat.
⚲ Saronic Gulf
LAUNCH THE WATER TOYS AT AGISTRI
Tie stern-to the rocks at the uninhabited side of Agistri—one of our favorite spots in the Saronic. Spend the day testing every water toy onboard in the gin-clear water.
⚲ Ionian Islands
VISIT UNESCO-LISTED CORFU OLD TOWN
Explore Corfu’s UNESCO-listed old town. Its blend of Venetian, French, and British influences, with its pastel facades and stone-paved lanes, makes it one of Europe’s most picturesque coastal towns.

A successful Greek yacht charter vacation is as much about choosing the right cruising area as it is about the yacht. From the party vibes of Mykonos to the calm coves of the Saronic Gulf, each sailing region has its own rhythm, weather patterns, and ideal yacht type. Below, we’ve laid them out for quick comparison.
Cyclades Islands Yacht Charters
Cyclades yacht charters are what we get most inquiries about. This is where you find the most hyped islands of Mykonos and Santorini. And yes, you can expect them to be crowded in the high season. But there is a lot more to see than these two, favorites being Polyaigos and Milos.
The Cyclades Islands are very weather-dependent, and the distances between islands are big, so flexibility is key. It is, for example, over 140 nautical miles from Athens to Santorini. – a long way on a one-week yacht charter. Therefore, it is important to choose the right yacht for your Cyclades yacht charter. We recommend motor yachts allowing you to cover the longer distances faster and more comfortably.

Saronic Gulf Yacht Charters
A Saronic Islands yacht charter is by far the safest choice. It is much easier to navigate than the Cyclades. The Gulf is located right at the doorstep of Athens and has tons of fantastic islands located close to each other. Most captains we speak to prefer the Saronic Gulf because it is easier to plan a route and because it has some of the best islands representing real Greece. The favorites are Aegina, Poros, Hydra, and Speses.
If you are looking for a catamaran charter, the Saronic Islands are the place to do it. With much shorter distances between the hotspots than the Cyclades, you can see a lot in one week, island hopping around, without being in a rush.

Ionian Islands Yacht Charters
Ionian yacht charters are up and coming! The Ionian Islands are located on the west side of the Peloponnese Peninsula in the Ionian Sea. This area has much lusher landscapes, high cliffs, beautiful Italian architecture, and much calmer weather conditions, meaning it is easier to stick to an itinerary.
We can either find you a yacht already located in the Ionian Sea, or you can make the trip from Athens to the Ionian, passing through the impressive Corinth Canal (the world’s narrowest canal). The best yacht type for the Ionian is a motor yacht charter, so you can easily explore all the way from Corfu to Zakynthos.

Dodecanese Islands Yacht Charters
The Dodecanese is a great destination for a mix of attractions, with highlights like the stunning medieval castles on Rhodes Island, world-class rock climbing on Kalymnos, the fun nightlife on Kos, and secluded bays on Leros. It is a little harder to get to, but it is well worth the trip.

Sporades Islands Yacht Charters
Located conveniently in the middle of the Aegean, the Sporades are easily reachable by sailing off Thessaloniki, Chalkidiki, Volos, and Skiathos, each location featuring hospitable marinas. The most well-known of the Sporades is youth hotspot Skiathos, while nearby Skopelos (the “Mamma Mia” island) and eco-paradise Alonissos with its Marine Park are wondrous sailing destinations.

- Advantages: Great stability, spacious, affordable, and fuel-efficient → lower APA costs.

Motor Yacht Charters in Greece
- Cruising Style: Fast-paced island hopping with maximum comfort and full-service onboard.
- Advantages: Covers more ground in less time, luxurious interiors, larger crew, full water toy setups (jet skis, seabobs, foils).
- Recommended Cruising Areas: Cyclades, Ionian Islands, Dodecanese – ideal for longer-distance routes.

How Much Does a Yacht Charter in Greece Cost?
The cost of a Greek yacht charter depends on the type of yacht, its size, and level of luxury. Prices start at €15,000 per week, but a motor yacht will cost more than a sailing yacht or catamaran. We recommend you don’t set your budget under €30,000 for a week.
On top of the base price, you’ll need to budget for running costs (food, fuel, activities), which are covered by an APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance) of 25-40%—higher for motor yachts due to fuel.
Greek tax (VAT) is usually 12% for one-week charters. Lastly, crew tips are recommended at 10-20%, based on service quality. We’ve helped hundreds of clients get the best value across all budgets—inquire now and have a broker guide you.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the Best Months for a Greece Yacht Charter?
Clients looking to avoid the crowds start as early as March or April. The water is still a bit cold. The main season spans the summer, with the high season starting in May or June. There is a strong Meltemi wind in August and September, affecting mainly the Cyclades. Some clients come specifically for this wind, while others avoid it. October- fewer people but colder. There have been some November charters; there are locations that do make sense…
How far can you go in a one-week yacht charter in Greece?
How far you can travel in a one-week charter depends on what type of yacht you charter and what the weather is like. The distances between the Greek islands are quite big, especially in the Cyclades – It is, for example, a whole 150 miles from Athens to Santorini. This is doable in a larger motor yacht but is a bit too ambitious in a catamaran, especially if the Meltemi blows.
We recommend you plan your itinerary according to the yacht you charter or vice versa.
Why is the VAT on the websites not definitive?
Some yachts do include VAT in the base price, while others don’t. The main reason is that some boats travel around and are subject to different VAT levels. VAT is sometimes (often) included with yachts that stay in 1 country. Inquire with a broker to get the exact VAT price of a specific yacht. They will also be able to guide you to yachts that are subject to lower VAT rates.
What is my chance of getting to Santorini?
That depends on how well you are prepared. The Cyclades are very weather-dependent, and the distances between islands are big, so flexibility is key. It is, for example, over 140 nautical miles from Athens to Santorini. –a long way on a one-week yacht charter, especially if the Meltemi wind blows.
Larger motor yacht charters are best for the Cyclades, allowing you to cover the longer distances faster and more comfortably. Unless you are in for the sailing and know you can handle it –then a sailing yacht could be your pick.
Can we get a yacht for more than 12 people?
Yes. However, the yachts for 12+ guests are limited. Why? The answer lies in the stringent EU regulations, which effectively are making it close to impossible to have more than 12 people onboard yacht charters in Greece. The stipulations basically require safety boats with Titanic parameters and additional requirements that private boat owners are not willing to fulfill.
You’re either looking for a small cruise ship or for one of the very few crewed yacht charters that fulfill the bureaucratic necessities for a commercial license to host more than 12 guests for a yacht charter in Greek island clusters.
What is the advance provisioning allowance?
The Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA) is a budget additional to the base yacht charter fee set aside in a separate APA account. The APA covers costs like fuel, food, port fees, and any other miscellaneous expenses that occur during the yacht charter.
APA is a standard practice in Mediterranean crewed luxury yacht charters. On all yachts operating under MYBA terms, the APA amount is outlined in the charter agreement and is usually set at around 25-40% of the base charter fee.
The idea of the APA is to have a fund that the yacht captain can use to provision the boat according to your preferences and needs without needing to clear every expense with you during the trip. At the end of the charter, the captain will provide an itemized list of all expenditures, and if the Advance Provisioning Allowance exceeds the costs, you will get a refund of the difference. If the costs exceed the APA, you’ll need to pay the extra amount.
How early should I book my Greek yacht charter?
With 3 months to charter, your best options are long gone. Ideally, we advise you to book 9-12 months before your intended charter.
It is also important to consider to keep some level of flexibility. Coming into high season and wanting to charter in the most popular areas, Greece yacht charters can easily be booked back-to-back.
One day back or forth can completely change the offer of available yachts, as you might find that your preferred yacht is already booked one day before your selected return date. It is, therefore, also a good idea to have your Greece yacht charter booked before you purchase your flight ticket.

Louis was great from beginning to end and walked me through the whole process. He helped me find a great boat that fit within our time and cost preferences. He explained the differences between the different builds and the pros and cons. Once we selected the boat, he explained and walked me through the whole booking process and answered all my questions. Finally, he checked in with me before, during, and after the charter to make sure everything met our expectations. I can’t recommend Louis enough if you are planning a charter, and I will definitely be in touch for our next trip!
