Onboard visit
AIZU is a solid pick for guests who actually want to sail, not just float. Cutter-rigged, responsive, and made to move, with a crew of four real sailors — enthusiastic, hands-on, and clearly proud of their boat. No experience needed, but they'll happily get you involved. The interior is bright and more spacious than expected, a lifting keel opens up shallow bays, and she handles Greek wind with ease. Built for active charters — sailing, hiking, paddleboarding — AIZU delivers an actual sailing holiday.

Description: Born and raised in Uruguay, very close to the Atlantic Ocean, and with great love for the sea. I started sailing as a kid. In my youth, I had my first experiences as a sailor on the Río de la Plata, which was the beginning of my passion for sailing. When I arrived in Europe, more than 20years ago, I was determined to achieve my dreams in the yachting industry and to develop my skills as a sailor, starting first with my education. From there, many years later, I started my career as a deckhand and grew up to become a Captain. I’ve been sailing and commanding many types of yachts, mainly classic schooners, sloops, and catamarans. I will continue to develop my passion for the ocean, sailing, and service in the charter industry.

Transcript — Sailing the Greek Islands on Aizu
I mean, this is, we have a good spot. This is the good spot, amazing. And I like to sit there. Do you see many dolphins in the Mediterranean? Yeah, a lot. I would probably be standing there and then have some dolphins come right. The bow, full sails up, nice breeze cutting through the water. I mean, you will have the experience of wind in the hair. It's completely different from a catamaran or a motor yacht.
And it's a cutter, so you have two head sails. Yeah, you have the inner for, which is like great for. I imagine you're also getting a lot of guests who are interested in the actual like sailing aspect of. I think that's the main goal of about, about like people that really want to come for the sailing. And like we also all a crew that really love sailing, so that's what we find important to go with them, sail every day. And we're also in the Cyclades, so the wind is really perfect. Yeah, yeah, this is the kind of boat you want to go. Yeah, we're also a performance boat, so I mean that's really the focus on. So I sailed from Australia to Greece is where we ended. It took two years. I think we were one of the slower boats to do it, but there's a lot to see in the way. But I mean, the boat is, would be our boat would have been a tender to this, you know, it's a, it's, it's a different world. I would love to have the feeling of standing here. Like our helm was like, like that size, you know. I don't think you need any sailing background because we are going to do it, but you're always welcome to help and always welcome, we can always teach you how to sail or if you want to get involved with the sailing. So I think it's really from a first-time sailing experience to a very advanced person in sailing. The boats now are made with modern gear, so a lot of it is electric. I do have electric ops and everything. Um, so yeah, with a crew of four that knows, I imagine you could sail this boat two people, but with four crew, you, you know, you have your service in the way as well. We also have a liftable keel, so when it's up, it's 2.2 meters and when it's down, it's 4.5. Okay, yeah, which makes that we can also anchor much closer, get closer, yeah, to the base. Uh, especially in Greece, it's really nice. And uh, yeah, we have a lot of competition from the catamarans, so I think it's like really a good advantage. So we can be like, we can do that, we can do that too. This goes very deep, so I mean, it's also important that you can store everything away and which is I think quite unique for a sailing boat because I mean, a lot of time it's very limited space. It's always easier not to bring hard luggage. Soft luggage is the easiest because then you can store either way. You can bring quite a lot for a week, but it's easier that you can roll up your bag or that it's flat that we can store it somewhere. Um, I think that's the most important. It's super bright. I often find with the slightly darker wood that it, it makes it very, yeah, no, that's true, dark. But this is, this is, yeah, it's airy rooms, right? And this is, this is great as well. Yeah, that you feel like you have a lot of space.
People that like, yeah, obviously like to sail, but since we also have water sports on board that really like to be active, go for hiking during the day as well, things like that. So I think, yeah, the people that want to have not just only a beach holiday, but also something sporty, something, yeah, and they, they like to have fun with the sailing as well. I think that's mostly the target audience that we have. Also, we have yoga equipment on board, we have weights to lift, we have all this kind of support equipment. We're on a sailing boat and it's, it's, you're getting a completely different experience on the water. So this would be the perfect type of boat for someone who likes being active on the water, like having the true experience of what it is like to be on the water. And with the collection of water toys, you have unlimited fun on the water. A lot like to, because they came all the way to Europe, so they want to see obviously Mykonos. I think that's a very popular spot, but I think the guests also like more quiet places or more natural islands. There's so many around Mykonos as well, so we bring them both, yeah, to both, both sides, the touristic, the fun islands, but also the quiet ones. When you're doing a charter, you, you can do up to Santorini and back in, you do that in one week? Yeah, yeah, yeah, definitely. Most of the time, certain in Athens, pick them up, but we can also pick them up in Mykonos. Okay, okay. Um, there is an international airport there, so yeah, which makes it easy. Do you have an advantage, would you say, of being a sailing boat that you can also go in weather where it might not be as comfortable for the catamaran? Yeah, definitely, definitely. I mean, for a catamaran, there it's really risky sometimes to sail in the Cyclades, while for us it's, uh, yeah, more comfortable and more easygoing as well. Yeah, yeah, yeah, no, definitely, 100%. Yeah, that's good, that's good, because I imagine a lot of clients are quite ambitious with getting to those places and it's so hard to predict. Yeah, no, exactly, exactly. Freedom that it gives me, I think, um, yeah, when your sails are up and you're going and you can decide wherever you want to go and the only thing you need to take care of is the elements of nature, that's for me the ultimate feeling of sailing.
