When people think “luxury yacht,” they picture a motor yacht. In the €40,000 to €80,000 a week range, we’d tell you to look at catamarans first.
At this budget your choices come down to three:
- An older motor yacht, dark and dated inside
- A 110 ft motor yacht, tighter cabins and serious fuel bills
- A brand-new 70–80 ft catamaran, our pick
Two numbers make the case. An 80 ft catamaran is so wide it carries roughly the volume of a 100+ ft motor yacht. And where a motor yacht at this price burns 400–700 liters an hour, these cats use 50–100, which comes straight off your APA at the end of the week.
The rest follows from the shape: full-beam salons, hydraulic swim platforms, and natural stability without stabilizers. These ten don’t just match motor yachts at the price, they outshine them.

10. AGATA BLU
Agata Blu is a 2023 Sunreef 75 set up for families rather than for ten adults. She sleeps 8 adults plus two children, with foldout child berths in both the master and the VIP, so the kids stay in the cabin with you instead of down the other hull.
Her toy list is unusually complete for a sailing cat: a SeaDoo Spark jet ski, a Seabob, two paddleboards, a wakeboard, a towable, two floating islands, fishing gear, and two electric scooters for exploring ashore, all launched off a Highfield SP 520 tender.
Captain Vladimir Vangelov runs her with chef Ventislav Kosanov, stewardess Maria Elena Episkopou and deckhand Stoyan Grigorov.
At EUR 54,000 a week plus expenses she is the most boat per euro on this page, and we have chartered her twice.
9. ALTEYA
We stepped on board ALTEYA at the show in Poros and immediately loved how she broke the mold. Most catamarans in this size play it safe with white-and-beige interiors. ALTEYA doesn’t. She goes bold, dark tones, deep blue, black leather, and wood accents, and it works. It feels curated, not cookie-cutter.
Her cabin layout is rare and often requested: 4 equal queen cabins, perfect for 4 couples sharing! Separate crew access from the aft cockpit means no awkward guest-crew crossover.
The flybridge is a highlight: big sunpads, a proper bar, shaded dining, and room to move. She carries a solid selection of water toys, including a Jet Ski, SeaBob, and even a spin bike if you feel like earning your tzatziki.
Captain Tisho has a laid-back but capable energy, and his local fishing knowledge is a bonus. Bozi, the deckhand, brings fun to the mix, expect good cocktails and surprise snacks.
If you want a power cat that doesn’t look like everyone else’s, this is the one.
8. ABOVE & BEYOND
We first toured ABOVE & BEYOND at the Poros yacht show. What puts her on the shortlist instantly is the chef, multi-award-winning and hands-down one of the best we’ve seen on any catamaran in Greece. If food matters, she beats almost anything else in this size.
She’s a Sunreef 80 but with a very different layout than GENNY below. ABOVE & BEYOND is built for 8 guests in 4 cabins and prioritizes a full-beam master suite, ideal for a family charter where the parents want the big cabin and the rest of the family shares the others.
Her flybridge has a proper jacuzzi, rare on sailing cats, and the hydraulic beach platform actually works for in-water setup. These are real features, not just nice extras. The ride underway is also quieter than most thanks to better-than-average insulation.
The crew of 5 is tight and experienced. The 2023 refit brought her right up to standard with fresh decor and updated systems. Among the 80s, she’s one of the best choices for gourmet-focused, comfort-first charters.
7. GENNY
GENNY is also a Sunreef 80, but her layout and crew style target a completely different charter group. We’ve seen her in action season after season, 12+ charters a year, lots of repeat guests, and a crew that operates like clockwork.
Unlike her sister ship ABOVE & BEYOND, GENNY drops the oversized master cabin to create a 5-cabin layout for 10 guests, including two VIP cabins and 3 doubles. That makes her perfect for 2 couples with kids or a group of friends.
One thing that changes everything: the Axopar 37 chase tender. You won’t find anything like that on other Sunreef 80s. It means faster, drier transfers, and a much more capable watersports setup. And the crew’s habit of sailing overnight when possible gives guests maximum swim and leisure time during the day.
GENNY is one of the most professionally run and reliable Sunreef 80s we’ve seen in Greece. She’s been tested, tuned, and is still a top pick.
6. CARTOUCHE
We were onboard CARTOUCHE in Sanremo, and while she’s not the newest or flashiest, she delivers more yacht for the money than anything else on the market. At 95 feet, she’s one of the largest catamarans available for charter in the Med and Caribbean, and at just 20L/hr fuel burn, she’s incredibly efficient to run.
She was built in 2011 but underwent a thorough refit in 2022, so she feels fresh without trying to look like something she’s not. The flybridge is big, cleanly laid out, and includes a proper Jacuzzi, usually only found on much larger motor yachts. Forward, her trampoline setup includes a swim ladder that drops straight into the water, a small but brilliant feature we rarely see done this well.
CARTOUCHE is also one of the few cats this size that actually performs under sail. For guests who want space, value, and a true sailing experience, she’s the smart choice.
5. CRAZY HORSE
CRAZY HORSE is one of the few catamarans in Greece that carries 2 Jet Skis, rare at this size, and a big win for active guests. Proves, you don’t need a motor yacht to get jet skis.
We were onboard at the EMMYS show in Poros and spent time with Captain Tilemachos, who knows these waters inside out. “Even in a week,” he told us, “you can reach the quiet Cyclades south of Naxos and Paros, we cruise at 12–14 knots and make the most of it.”
This Lagoon 78 power cat hits the sweet spot between laid-back comfort and real capability. She has 5 ensuite cabins, including a flexible twin/double, great for families or friends not sharing beds. Interiors are clean, modern, and genuinely spacious.
Outside, the flybridge is the social hub, with full sun-loungers and an open roof for stargazing. The swim platform is built for fun: two Jet Skis (license required), sailing dinghy, SUPs, kayaks, and snorkel gear. She’s set up to use the toys, not just carry them.
4. GRAYONE
GRAYONE is one of the most beautiful catamarans available for charter in Greece, full stop. She is the example of everything the Sunreef 80 gets right. We have done the full tour of her and were head over heels with her design – from the large windows, to the color-scheme, and the sexy furniture. – She is perfect.
GRAYONE has a crew of 5, all from South Africa, which is very rare in Greece, where most crews are local. They are all extremely experienced, and the Captain, Daniel Shaw, came from bigger luxury motor yachts to this – because he thinks the Sunreef 80 is the best charter boat on the market. His passion and skill are visible; he has added several upgrades, like 2 new silent Onan generators and a larger battery bank, so the generators can be turned off at night for complete silence – something guests do not always think about initially, but that makes a massive difference on charter.
GRAYONE is the catamaran for guests who prioritize luxurious living. She does not sail fast, but she is the number one boat on anchor. As Captain Shaw puts it: “We won’t win any races, but we will look stylish getting there.”
3. ALOIA
ALOIA is one of 3 flagship Fontaine Pajot 80s on this list (we saw all at the Greece yachts show). ALOIA was the first to be built of this model, and she is a major step up from the previous 67-foot.
Our favorite features are the fold-down balconies on the side decks, which create a really nice place to sit and enjoy the view with a drink, or a platform to jump off into the water. At anchor, it makes her deck feel even bigger and wonderfully open.
Her galley is down, which means the saloon is freed up for a proper lounge and dining table, ideal if you want separation from crew prep. If you prefer galley up so you can watch the chef show, SERENISSIMA III below has it.
ALOIA’s FP80 hull is very light despite its size; the profile is low, which means she sails very well compared to other catamarans of this size.
2. SERENISSIMA III
SERENISSIMA III was one of 3 flagship Fontaine Pajot Thera 80s we saw at the EMMYS show in Poros. She is a top-end catamaran with 5 cabins for 10 guests, including a master cabin, a VIP suite (almost the size of the master), and 3 doubles, excellent for 2 couples with kids or a group of friends.
We like her because she is very luxurious throughout, she was build in 2024, so everything is brand new and in a clean, modern style. But her looks are not all, she also has a fast hull – meaning she sails well, cruising at 9-10 knots – which is not always a given for 80-foot charter catamarans, which are often built like floating villas meant to sit at anchor.
Standout areas on SERENISSIMA III is her enormous flybridge – the number one place to hang out as a group, and her big foredeck with a lounge with room for everyone, sunbathing pads, and a jacuzzi located right on the bow with unobstructed views of the sea ahead.
SERENISSIMA III’s got 5 crew, which means you will have a very focused service – the chef is the dedicated chef, he is not doing anything else, but is 100% focused on the food. This matters a whole lot – the food is something you would expect in a fine dining restaurant.
1. AD ASTRA
AD ASTRA 80 is a luxury catamaran that ticks a lot of the boxes for a luxury yacht charter in Greece. First of all, she is brand new, built in 2025 – last year was her first season, which is honestly the perfect – just enough to be “broken in”, tested and fine-tuned, and still completely fresh.
Fontaine Pajot catamararans are traditionally built with a performance-first mindset, but they are quickly catching up on luxury. And that is what we love about this model – it balances both very successfully. That means it suits most of our clients, whether you are looking for ultimate comfort or a catamaran that can sail. If we for example compare it to a Sunreef 80, which is built for pure luxury, it is heavier, has a taller profile, and does not sail very well. Why not pick a yacht that does it all?
AD ASTRA comfortably cruises around 10-11 knots under engine and can reach 14-15 knots with the sails up – this is comparable to many motor yachts. What it means for you as a charterer – you can see more of the Greek islands in a week, you get to your desired locations much faster, and you get more time in the water or exploring ashore.
