10 Luxury Catamarans in Greece that Outshine Motor Yachts in Every Way
When people think “luxury yacht,” they usually imagine a motor yacht. But in the €40k–€70k/week range, a new wave of high-end catamarans is completely changing the game – and we recommend you look at them first.
Here’s the hack: At this price point, your choices usually come down to one of three options:
- An older motor yacht (think dark, dated, and often smelly inside)
- A 110 ft motor yacht with tighter space and high fuel costs
- Or a brand-new 70–80 ft luxury catamaran (our pick)
That last option is the sweet spot. Modern catamarans from brands like Sunreef and Fountaine Pajot offer everything a motor yacht does – and more – in a package that delivers far better value.
Why These Catamarans Win – Hands Down:
- More space: An 80 ft catamaran is so wide, it compares to a 100+ ft motor yacht in volume.
- Brand new, modern design: Light-filled, stylish interiors with no musty corners.
- Closer to the water: Full-beam salons, hydraulic swim platforms, and easy sea access.
- Smooth ride: Natural stability without the need for stabilizers.
- Fuel efficiency: Motor yachts of this size/price point burn 400–700L/hour. These cats? Just 50–100L/hour. That’s a huge difference to your APA at the end of your charter.
Bottom Line:
At this size and budget, luxury catamarans give you more yacht, more comfort, more time cruising — and less compromise. We’ve selected the top 10 catamarans in Greece right now that don’t just match motor yachts — they outshine them.
10. ALTEYA
We stepped on board ALTEYA at the show in Poros and immediately loved how she broke the mold. Most catamarans in this size play it safe with white-and-beige interiors. ALTEYA doesn’t. She goes bold—dark tones, deep blue, black leather, and wood accents—and it works. It feels curated, not cookie-cutter.
Her cabin layout is rare and often requested: 4 equal queen cabins – perfect for 4 couples sharing! Separate crew access from the aft cockpit means no awkward guest-crew crossover.
The flybridge is a highlight: big sunpads, a proper bar, shaded dining, and room to move. She carries a solid selection of water toys, including a Jet Ski, SeaBob, and even a spin bike if you feel like earning your tzatziki.
Captain Tisho has a laid-back but capable energy, and his local fishing knowledge is a bonus. Bozi, the deckhand, brings fun to the mix—expect good cocktails and surprise snacks.
If you want a power cat that doesn’t look like everyone else’s, this is the one.
9. ABOVE & BEYOND
We first toured ABOVE & BEYOND at the Poros yacht show. What puts her on the shortlist instantly is the chef—multi-award-winning and hands-down one of the best we’ve seen on any catamaran in Greece. If food matters, she beats almost anything else in this size.
She’s a Sunreef 80 but with a very different layout than GENNY below. ABOVE & BEYOND is built for 8 guests in 4 cabins and prioritizes a full-beam master suite—ideal for a family charter where the parents want the big cabin and the rest of the family shares the others.
Her flybridge has a proper jacuzzi—rare on sailing cats—and the hydraulic beach platform actually works for in-water setup. These are real features, not just nice extras. The ride underway is also quieter than most thanks to better-than-average insulation.
The crew of 5 is tight and experienced. The 2023 refit brought her right up to standard with fresh decor and updated systems. Among the 80s, she’s one of the best choices for gourmet-focused, comfort-first charters.
8. GENNY
GENNY is also a Sunreef 80, but her layout and crew style target a completely different charter group. We’ve seen her in action season after season—12+ charters a year, lots of repeat guests, and a crew that operates like clockwork.
Unlike her sister ship ABOVE & BEYOND, GENNY drops the oversized master to create a 5-cabin layout for 10 guests, including two VIP cabins and and 3 doubles. That makes her perfect for 2 couples with kids or a group of friends.
One thing that changes everything: the Axopar 37 chase tender. You won’t find anything like that on other Sunreef 80s. It means faster, drier transfers, and a much more capable watersports setup. And the crew’s habit of sailing overnight when possible gives guests maximum swim and leisure time during the day.
GENNY is one of the most professionally run and reliable Sunreef 80s we’ve seen in Greece. She’s been tested, tuned, and is still a top pick.
7. CARTOUCHE
We were onboard CARTOUCHE in Sanremo, Italy earlier this year, and she truly stands out. She charters in the Mediterranean during the summer and the Caribbean in the winter, and has built a strong reputation with an impressive track record of happy clients.
(mention somewhere, she is not the flashest, she is an older model, but she is unbeatable when it comes to price for space. and fuel consumption at only 20 liters per hour – incredible.)
At 95 feet, CARTOUCHE is one of the largest catamaran available for charter in the Mediterranean and Caribbean, offering exceptional space and comfort. That is a lot of yacht – space for the money compared to motor yachts or sunreef 80s.
Although built in 2011, CARTOUCHE was refitted just 2 years ago, so she feels fresh and updated. Her flybridge is a highlight – spacious with a Jacuzzi in a setup you’d usually expect on a motor yacht. Up front, the foredeck trampolines include a swim ladder that lowers right into the water – super convenient and a standout detail. She’s also an excellent performer under sail, making her a fantastic choice for guests who want a true sailing experience, not just a floating villa.
6. CRAZY HORSE
To catch your attention, let me start by mentioning: CRAZY HORSE catamaran has two jetskis onboard!
We were onboard the power catamaran Crazy Horse, at the EMMYS yacht show in Poros. She is a beautiful Lagoon 78 power catamaran, that hits that sweet spot between serious luxury and laid-back comfort. While onboard, I spoke to Captain Tilemachos Aidinis. He clearly knows these waters like the back of his hand, and was happy to share his insights: “Even a week is enough to explore the smaller Cyclades—those quiet little islands south of Naxos and Paros. With 12 to 14 knots cruising speed, you get there fast and actually enjoy the places, not just the sailing.”
And that’s really the vibe aboard Crazy Horse: easy, effortless, and fun. The 5 ensuite cabins are modern, and—importantly— very spacious. There’s a flexible fifth cabin that converts from a double to two singles, perfect if you’re traveling with kids or friends who aren’t sharing a bed.
But the magic really happens outside. The flybridge is the spot to be—plenty of seating, sun-loungers, and an open ceiling for stargazing. Down by the swim platform, you’ve got more toys than you’ll know what to do with: two jet skis, which is rare on a catamaran (license required), SUPs, a sailing dinghy, kayaks, and all the snorkel gear you’ll need.
The crew of five keeps things running smoothly, striking that perfect balance between attentive and chill. They’ll make sure you spend more time sipping wine in a quiet bay or jumping off the stern than stressing about logistics.
5. GRAYONE
GRAYONE is one of the most beautiful catamarans available for charter in Greece, full stop. She is the example of everything the Sunreef 80 gets right. We have done the full tour of her and were head over heels with her design – from the large windows, to the color-scheme, and the sexy furniture. – She is perfect.
GRAYONE has a crew of 5, all from South Africa, which is very rare in Greece, where most crews are local. They are all extremely experienced, and the Captain, Daniel Shaw, came from bigger luxury motor yachts to this – because he thinks the Sunreef 80 is the best charter boat on the market. His passion and skill are visible; he has added several upgrades, like 2 new silent Onan generators and a larger battery bank, so the generators can be turned off at night for complete silence – something guests do not always think about initially, but that makes a massive difference on charter.
GRAYONE is the catamaran for guests who prioritize luxurious living. She does not sail fast, but she is the number one boat on anchor. As Captain Shaw puts it: “We won’t win any races, but we will look stylish getting there.”
4. ALOIA
ALOIA is one of 3 flagship Fontaine Pajot 80s on this list (we saw all at the Greece yachts show). ALOIA was the first to be built of this model, and she is a major step up from the previous 67-foot.
Our favorite features are the fold-down balconies on the side decks, which create a really nice place to sit and enjoy the view with a drink, or a platform to jump off into the water. At anchor, it makes her deck feel even bigger and wonderfully open.
Her galley is down, which means the saloon is freed up for a proper lounge and dining table—ideal if you want separation from crew prep. If you prefer galley up so you can watch the chef show, SERENISSIMA III below has it.
ALOIA’s FP80 hull is very light despite the size; her profile is low, meaning she sails very well compared to other catamaran brands of this size.
3. SERENISSIMA III
SERENISSIMA III was one of 3 flagship Fontaine Pajot Thera 80s we saw at the EMMYS show in Poros. She is a top-end catamaran with 5 cabins for 10 guests, including a master cabin, a VIP suite (almost the size of the master), and 3 doubles – excellent for 2 couples with kids or a group of friends.
We like her because she is very luxurious throughout – she was build in 2024, so everything is brand new and in a clean, modern style. But her looks are not all, she also has a fast hull – meaning she sails well, cruising at 9-10 knots – which is not always a given for 80-foot charter catamarans, which are often built like floating villas meant to sit at anchor.
Standout areas on SERENISSIMA III is her enormous flybridge – the number one place to hang out as a group, and her big foredeck with a lounge with room for everyone, sunbathing pads, and a jacuzzi located right on the bow with unobstructed views of the sea ahead.
SERENISSIMA III’s got 5 crew, which means you will have a very focused service – the chef is the dedicated chef, he is not doing anything else, but is 100% focused on the food. This matters a whole lot – the food is something you would expect in a fine dining restaurant.
2. AD ASTRA 80
AD ASTRA 80 is a luxury catamaran that ticks a lot of the boxes for a luxury yacht charter in Greece. First of all, she is brand new, built in 2025 – last year was her first season, which is honestly the perfect – just enough to be “broken in”, tested and fine-tuned, and still completely fresh.
Fontaine Pajot catamararans are traditionally built with a performance-first mindset, but they are quickly catching up on luxury. And that is what we love about this model – it balances both very successfully. That means it suits most of our clients, whether you are looking for ultimate comfort or a catamaran that can sail. If we for example compare it to a Sunreef 80, which is built for pure luxury, it is heavier, has a taller profile, and does not sail very well. Why not pick a yacht that does it all?
AD ASTRA comfortably cruises around 10-11 knots under engine and can reach 14-15 knots with the sails up – this is comparable to many motor yachts. What it means for you as a charterer – you can see more of the Greek islands in a week, you get to your desired locations much faster, and you get more time in the water or exploring ashore.
1. MANTA
MANTA is the reason this list exists. At this budget, you no longer need to choose between the space of a catamaran and the speed of a motor yacht – she gives you both.
We were onboard in Sanremo 2025, and she immediately stood out as the best-designed power catamaran for family charters. As a true Sunreef 80 Power, she cruises at 13 knots and can hit over 20 — a huge advantage in Greece, where distances are far and fast transfers mean more time swimming, exploring, and enjoying the islands.
Her layout is built for families: a large master, 2 VIPs, and 2 convertible twins. Not ideal for four couples, but perfect for parents with kids or a multigenerational group. The galley-up configuration keeps the main deck open and interactive, and the 12.2m beam delivers serious interior volume – more than you’ll find on any 110ft motor yachts.
The toy garage is properly stocked — Jet Ski, Seabobs, wakeboard, SUPs — and the crew is set up to use them. Shallow draft lets her anchor close to shore, and the wide swim platform makes water access easy, even for younger guests.
MANTA proves exactly what we’re saying: at this size and budget, power catamarans have overtaken traditional motor yachts in almost every category that matters.
