A motor yacht charter in Greece gives you the islands at full speed. Cruising at 16 to 20+ knots, a motor yacht cuts travel times in half and opens routes the slower fleet cannot touch: Mykonos and Santorini in one week, the full Cyclades loop, or a one-way run through the Dodecanese.

The Greek motor yacht fleet is one of the largest in the Mediterranean, from 60ft family yachts to 200ft+ superyachts. We inspect these yachts in person every season at the MEDYS and EMMYS charter shows, on board, cabin by cabin, before we recommend one to you.

Why Charter a Motor Yacht in Greece?

  • Speed and reach: 16-20+ knots cuts travel time in half and fits more islands into one week
  • Hotel-grade comfort: ensuite cabins, jacuzzis, stabilizers, and serious onboard chefs
  • The biggest toy garages: jet skis, Seabobs, e-foils, inflatables, and diving gear
  • The largest fleet in Greece: more choice at every size and budget than any other yacht type

Broker insight

Athens to Mykonos is a full day on a sailing yacht. On a fast motor yacht it is about three hours, so you can be swimming off Delos by lunch on day one. That is why we point clients who want the classic Cyclades week toward a motor yacht: more islands, less transit, and by far the biggest choice of boats.

How Much Does a Motor Yacht Charter in Greece Cost?

Crewed motor yacht charters in Greece start at around €60,000 per week, and most of our clients land between €100,000 and €250,000 for the right yacht in season. The weekly rate is the charter fee only: VAT and APA come on top, so budget above the headline number. On top of the base rate, budget for:

  • VAT: 12% Greek charter tax
  • APA: 30-40% for fuel, food, drinks, and dockage
  • Gratuity: 10-15%, based on service

Where to Go on Your Greek Motor Yacht Charter?

The Cyclades are the motor yacht playground: Mykonos, Paros, Ios, and Santorini in a single week is realistic at 20 knots, exactly the trip we tell catamaran clients not to attempt. The Saronic Gulf is the quickest escape from Athens when you want to board and be anchored the same afternoon. The Ionian Islands reward a one-way route from Corfu down to Zakynthos (allow for a relocation fee if the yacht is Athens-based), and the Dodecanese out of Rhodes stay quieter, with island-hopping distances a fast yacht shrugs off.

People Also Ask

Can I visit Mykonos and Santorini on a motor yacht in one week?

Yes, this is exactly what motor yachts are for. At 16 to 20 knots you can run Athens, Mykonos, Paros, Santorini and back with time to swim at every stop. See our 7-day Mykonos round-trip itinerary.

How fast do motor yachts cruise between the Greek islands?

Most cruise at 15 to 20 knots and the fastest exceed 30, so hops that take half a day under sail become one or two hours. Speed fans should start with our Top 10 fastest motor yachts in Greece.

Can I do a one-way charter from Athens to the Ionian Islands?

Yes, but budget a relocation fee, typically €5,000 to €15,000 depending on distance and fuel. Often it is better value to start from Corfu: see our Ionian one-way itinerary.

What is the best time for a motor yacht charter in Greece?

June to August is peak, with the highest rates and the strongest Meltemi in the Cyclades. May, June, and September offer the best balance of weather and value. More in our Greece charter weather guide.

How early should I book?

Ideally 9 to 12 months ahead for peak season, when the best motor yachts sell out first. Inside 3 months, check our current special offers for strong late options.
