Greece Luxury Yacht Charter
A luxury yacht charter in Greece isn’t just a vacation – it’s a private floating resort that brings Greece’s top islands right to your doorstep. With your own professional crew, gourmet chef, and a fully equipped superyacht, you’ll explore the Greek islands in five-star comfort and complete freedom.Â
With a bigger, faster yacht, you’re no longer limited by distance. The 140-nautical-mile run from Athens to Santorini—nearly impossible on a one-week catamaran charter—becomes totally doable. And with stabilizers, the infamous Meltemi winds of summer won’t knock you out of your lounge chair.
Expect onboard luxury amenities that outshine any 5-star hotel: big sundecks, open-air jacuzzis, fully stocked bars, dedicated spa rooms, cinemas, private gyms, and a garage stocked with every available water toy – we give you the best superyachts available for charter in Greece.

Greece Superyacht Charter Highlights
These highlights aren’t random — they reflect what actually makes a successful luxury yacht charter in Greece: fast island access, five-star living, unforgettable food, and serious fun in the water.
Where to Go on Your Greek Luxury Yacht Charter?
Greece isn’t one single charter destination — it’s a country of many island groups, each with its own character, conditions, and style. From the jet-set vibe of Mykonos to the lush landscapes of the Ionian Islands, here’s how to choose your cruising ground.
Cyclades Islands – Most Popular & Weather Dependent
A luxury yacht charter in the Cyclades takes you to Greece’s most iconic island group — and also the most weather-dependent. With long distances between islands and strong summer winds (the Meltemi), we recommend choosing a larger motor yacht with stabilizers that can cover ground comfortably and remain flexible in the face of changing weather conditions.
- Known For: Whitewashed villages, nightlife, and dramatic cliffside anchorages.
- Most Hyped: Santorini (beautiful, but far) and Mykonos (vibrant, but crowded).
- Our Favorites: Milos, Polyaigos, and Folegandros – wild, unspoiled, and less quiet.
- Insider Tip: Skip the long haul from Athens and start your yacht charter in Mykonos or Santorini.
Saronic Gulf – Shorter Distances and Authentic Islands
If you’d rather avoid long crossings and the worst crowds, the Saronic Gulf is a much easier cruising ground, sitting right on Athens’ doorstep. The islands here are closer together, making it easy to move around, especially when the wind picks up.
- Known For: Neoclassical harbors, car-free villages, and short, smooth hops between islands.
- Most Hyped: Spetses and Hydra (charming and cinematic, but can get busy in peak season).
- Our Favorites: Poros (authentic Greek waterfront village) and Agistri (stunning wild island with crystal-clear water)
- Insider Tip: This is the only region you can realistically explore on a short 3–4 day charter out of Athens.
Ionian Sea – Lush Landscape and Calmer Conditions
Luxury yacht charters in the Ionian are on the rise. The Ionian Islands are distinct from the rest of Greece, characterized by greener landscapes, Venetian architecture, and calmer weather. You can usually stick to your itinerary without the wind messing things up.
- Known For: Emerald waters, green hills, colorful harbors, and historical Italian influence.
- Most Hyped: Zakynthos (Navagio Beach and sea turtles) and Corfu (luxury, culture, and nightlife).
- Our Favorites: Ithaca and Paxos – quiet, authentic, and ideal for private anchorages.
- Insider Tip: Start your charter through the Corinth Canal (the world’s narrowest shipping canal) for a dramatic and unforgettable entrance into the Ionian Sea.
Dodecanese Islands – Rich History & Off the Beaten Track
If you’re looking to go further off the beaten path, a luxury yacht charter in the Dodecanese Islands offers a completely different experience. Sitting closer to the Turkish coast, this island group combines ancient Greek culture with Eastern influence. This is a fantastic route for longer charters or guests who’ve already done the Cyclades.
- Known For: Ancient ruins, medieval castles, Ottoman ports, and Byzantine ruins.
- Most Hyped: Rhodes (historic walled city) and Kos (beaches, nightlife, and wellness).
- Our Favorites: Symi (neoclassical charm) and Patmos (spiritual, quiet, and scenic).
- Insider Tip: Fly into Rhodes and work your way north to Patmos — it’s a perfect one-way itinerary with the wind behind you.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the Best Months for a Greece Luxury Yacht Charter?
Clients looking to avoid the crowds start as early as March or April. The water is still a bit cold. The main season spans the summer, with the high season starting in May or June. There is a strong Meltemi wind in August and September, affecting mainly the Cyclades. Some clients come specifically for this wind, while others avoid it. October- fewer people but colder. There have been some November charters; there are locations that do make sense…
How far can you get on a one-week superyacht charter in Greece?
The bigger and faster the yacht, the further you can go. It is, for example, a whole 150 miles from Athens to Santorini, and the meltemi winds can be strong in the peak summer months. -For an itinerary like this, you want to be on a large motor yacht with stabilizers cruising at least 15 knots.
What you also need to consider is the fuel bill; the further you go, the higher your APA. That is why we recommend choosing a yacht with great fuel efficiency – the difference can be thousands of euros at the end of a one-week charter.
Can we get a superyacht for more than 12 people?
Yes. However, the yachts for 12+ guests are limited. Why? The answer lies in the stringent EU regulations, which effectively are making it close to impossible to have more than 12 people onboard yacht charters in Greece. The stipulations basically require safety boats with Titanic parameters and additional requirements that private boat owners are not willing to fulfill.
You’re either looking for a small cruise ship or for one of the very few crewed yacht charters that fulfill the bureaucratic necessities for a commercial license to host more than 12 guests for a yacht charter in Greek island clusters.
What is the advance provisioning allowance (APA)?
The Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA) is a budget additional to the base yacht charter fee set aside in a separate APA account. The APA covers costs like fuel, food, port fees, and any other miscellaneous expenses that occur during the yacht charter.
APA is a standard practice in Mediterranean crewed luxury yacht charters. On all yachts operating under MYBA terms, the APA amount is outlined in the charter agreement and is usually set at around 25-40% of the base charter fee.
The idea of the APA is to have a fund that the yacht captain can use to provision the boat according to your preferences and needs without needing to clear every expense with you during the trip. At the end of the charter, the captain will provide an itemized list of all expenditures, and if the Advance Provisioning Allowance exceeds the costs, you will get a refund of the difference. If the costs exceed the APA, you’ll need to pay the extra amount.
How early should I book my Greek luxury yacht charter?
With 3 months to charter, your best options are long gone. Ideally, we advise you to book 9-12 months before your intended charter.
It is also important to consider to keep some level of flexibility. Coming into high season and wanting to charter in the most popular areas, Greece yacht charters can easily be booked back-to-back.
One day back or forth can completely change the offer of available yachts, as you might find that your preferred yacht is already booked one day before your selected return date. It is, therefore, also a good idea to have your Greece yacht charter booked before you purchase your flight ticket.
