General Information
Alimos is a municipality in South Athens in Greece, and it is a perfect tourist destination for yacht charters in Greece. It is situated on the Saronic Gulf coast and not very far from Athens city center and it is also the departure location for yacht charter in the Cyclades. Alimos is surrounded by unique attractions and hidden gems that you can explore while in Athens. It features a large marina and a plethora of serene beaches where you can take a break and relax from the hustling and bustling of the city.

You will find Alimos marina in the SE of Faliron. Alimos Marina has 2-6m depth, and crewed yachts can go stern or bows-to under the W mole of the Marina. Charter yachts in Greece will also find laid moorings tailed to the quay or buoy. You will find visitors’ quay along the inner W mole, but it is congested with permanent berth holders. The Marina is usually busy on weekends, and some berths are reserved for charter yachts.

History of Alimos
Alimos is a municipality in southern Athens and was founded in 1968. Alimos is located on the coast of the Saronic Gulf close to downtown Athens. The region features some of the earliest urban settlements in Europe, which dates back to the Bronze Age and Neolithic period. Some of the archaeological finds include Mycenaean workshops, forts, Paleochristian and Byzantine churches.
Alimos was once a fishing town located on the outskirts of Athens during classical antiquity and was among the demes of Athens. The Ano Kalamaki area constitutes a distinct settlement that became the urban Deme of Euonymus during classical antiquity. During the 5th and 4th centuries, the peak of Ano Kalamaki, it was among the most densely populated communities of ancient Athens. During the period, it has its theater, acropolis, and religious holidays and some of its residents played a major role in the politics and public life of Athens.
The most significant historical background of Alimos is that the historian Thucydides was born here. Thucydides tells the story of the war between Sparta and Athens in 411 BC through his “History of the Peloponnesian war.” He is regarded as “the father of scientific history,” and he is a popular figure and emblem in Alimos.
