Guest Experience
★★★★★
“We were blessed with nearly perfect weather, a wonderfully kind crew, and incredible sights! We hope this won’t be our last time in Greece and certainly not the last we’ll see of this crew or vessel!”
✻
❛Over the last couple of years, we have seen an increase in the popularity of crewed catamaran charters in Greece. Popular especially with first-time charterers, catamarans are a great entry point into the world of crewed charters. Catamarans have low fuel consumption and can often accommodate up to 10 guests, leaving a higher percentage of the Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA) for food and drinks.
Another trend of crewed catamaran charter in Greece is their increasing size. A few years ago, there were only a few luxury catamarans over 50 feet. Now, the new luxury catamarans joining the fleet are much longer; some are over 70 feet and even come with amenities like jacuzzi and jet skis!”

2. GRAYONE | 80 FT SUNREEF
GRAYONE is another 80-foot Sunreef sailing catamaran charter. She has a very fashionable dark grey hull color, highlighting her gorgeous exterior lines and the enormous deck area covering the three teak decks.
She is a luxury catamaran with a creative internal layout that allows for a front bar complete with a wine cellar to serve guests both inside the boat and on the foredeck. Guests will have a hard time deciding between the aft cockpit, the spacious flybridge, and the upper deck, which features two loungers, integrated seating with breathtaking views of the Greek waters, and a cocktail table.
In contrast to the traditional nautical decor found on other luxury catamarans of comparable size, the interior of this one features a light ceiling and floors, dark blue and white tones, and a warm, welcome soft orange utilized in part for the materials.
Toys and Amenities
A wide electro-hydraulic bathing platform is essential for the luxury crewed catamaran GRAYONE to store the fast tender, which is powered by 110hp and can reach speeds of over 35 knots. Along with the floating deck, the water toys, which include a SeaDoo jet ski, water skis, and a 16-square-meter floating swimming pool, may be securely thrown into the water.
Why Choose a Catamaran Charter for Your Greek Yacht Vacation?
A Catamaran Charter is a popular way of chartering in the Greek islands. The base charter fee is significantly lower compared to other boats and especially to motor yachts.
A sailing trip in the Greek islands can also be a bit challenging for those new to chartering. A Catamaran charter is a more comfortable choice due to its stability on the water and its increased onboard space, allowing for larger groups to share their sailing vacation and the bill.
3. IPHARRA | 102 FT SUNREEF

There are Several Advantages to a Catamaran Charter Greece
- Less Port Restrictions than Motor Yachts
Catamarans are considered sailing yachts and often can leave port when motor yachts are forbidden to sail. A typical situation is August in the Cyclades Islands, where the Meltemi (strong, annual northerly winds) can keep a significant number of yachts grounded. Choosing catamaran sailing allows the captain to use the leeward side of the islands to navigate in protected waters (as far as wind and waves are concerned), taking advantage of the best sailing conditions in the Greek archipelagos.
- Catamarans Have Shallower Draft
Athens (possibly the Marina Alimos) is the starting location of a typical crewed catamaran charter. Being lighter than the super motor yachts, catamarans can perhaps reach more of the beautiful beaches and secluded coves scattered around the coastline of the Greek islands.
- More Space for More People
The smaller sailing yachts usually accommodate fewer people than catamarans, making the cost per guest higher, while, the larger sailing boats are often more expensive (due to crew size, maintenance costs, boat size, and berthing fees) and are considered more of a luxury.
On the other hand, Motor yachts can host a similar number of guests (up to 12) but at an even higher cost per passenger. Incorporating the APA – especially the cost of fuel (some motor yachts can consume up to 600 liters per hour) makes the difference even more dramatic.
4. GENNY | 80 FT SUNREEF
Genny is a high-end, Greek charter catamaran with a Jetski. Have a look at the flybridge area – the deck size and comfort are comparable to motor yachts. Genny is a quite new sailing catamaran(2021) and clearly shows the trend of luxury catamarans growing in size in recent years – especially the larger Sunreef catamarans.
The Italian chef Errico underlines the status of Genny, placing it as a cross between catamarans and motor yachts. Not many sailing catamarans have the main saloon featuring a dinner table accommodating all guests.
Check our reviews, Genny has a crew of 6 providing a high level of service being able to surprise and plan fantastic activities – on the water as well as on land.
Toys and Amenities
Genny comes equipped with a 28 ft motor dinghy and a sailing dinghy, plus kayaks, SUPs, sea scooters, sea bobs, snorkeling, and fishing gear. With the guidance of the expert crew members, you can explore hidden charms such as secluded beaches, gardens, and underwater zones.

Our captain had absolute command of the boat and was the consummate professional, navigating fierce winds all week with such skill and confidence that we never doubted our safety in his hands. The crew managed to deliver an exceptional experience, service, and food within the confines of our original APA budget. The boat, of course, is a beauty. So gracefully designed and well-appointed, with ample storage space and lots of comfortable places to gather. We loved every minute aboard that yacht.”
Where to Go on a Catamaran Charter Greece?
#1 is a Catamaran Charter in the Saronic Islands
Due to catamarans’ lower sailing speed, the most popular sailing vacation spots for a catamaran charter are the Saronic Gulf and Ionian Islands.
A sailing itinerary in the Saronic Gulf takes you to some of the most beautiful Greek islands in the Aegean Sea with some of the best beaches. Plus, you have short distances for island hopping, allowing you to fit more into your itinerary and focus on exploring the islands.
The Ionian Islands have Several Advantages for Catamaran Charters
Also note that catamaran charters are on the rise in the Ionian Islands, with more greenery and less wind! You can be lucky to find a catamaran charter already in the Ionian Sea (several have been moving there this summer), or you can find a catamaran charter starting in Athens and heading through the amazing Corinth Canal, well worth experiencing.
The Cyclades are Harder to Get to on a Catamaran Charter, but…
The Cyclades islands are reachable with a crewed catamaran charter, but they are weather-dependent due to strong “meltemi” winds in the summer.
If you have your mind set on a sailing itinerary in the Cyclades Islands, we suggest you inquire about starting your luxury crewed catamaran charter there. We can provide a list of yachts in the area that are available for your luxury Yacht charter vacation in Greece.

A piece of Advice
NEWER YACHTS ARE OFTEN MORE FUEL-EFFICIENT
It is no secret that, compared to sailing yachts, motor yachts consume a large amount of fuel and generally entail significantly higher charter costs. This might be a pivotal consideration for those planning a charter in Greece on a budget. But, for those set on a motor yacht, it is worth looking at newer motor yachts rather than older models. Although an older motor yacht might have a cheaper initial cost, the better fuel efficiency of a newer engine will save you money in the long run.
DON’T SET YOUR BUDGET TOO LOW
We have seen a significant increase in size among top-tier motor yachts in recent years allowing for the accommodation of larger groups of guests, along with the inclusion of amenities and luxuries previously uncommon, such as generous water toy collections, open-air Jacuzzis, and much more.
Spending a little more on a motor yacht can get you a lot more for your $$!
BOOK EARLY TO SECURE YOUR YACHT
Make sure to book your Greek yacht charter well in advance. Ideally, you would inquire about your coming charter 12 months in advance. WHY? The best charter yachts are often fully booked long in advance and it’s not unusual to see popular dates booked 2 summers ahead for a Greece yacht charter. Inquiring less than 6 months ahead often means that your first choice is unavailable for charter.
