At 115 to 145 feet (35 to 44 metres), a motor yacht in Greece has the size for the open crossings between Athens and the islands and the deck space to keep 12 guests apart when they want to be. This is the 40-metre class, one of the largest groups on our Greek site: about 94 yachts of this size list Greece as a cruising area on our site, roughly 70 of them motor yachts, the rest gulets and sailing yachts.
Below are 10 of them, one per shipyard, picked to show the range of builders rather than to crown a best boat; by starting rate they all sit in the upper half of the class. All ten list Greece as a cruising area. The countdown runs from #10, the shortest at 117 feet, up to #1, the longest at 144 feet, ranked by listed length. Specs and rates come from each yacht’s current listing and quotes from our published onboard reviews. Rates are quoted “from” the lowest weekly figure, plus APA (the advance provisioning allowance for fuel, food and berthing); the APA percentage differs by yacht and is shown on each listing. Figures are as listed in September 2026, so confirm them when you book.
What a 40-Metre Yacht Means in Greece
Guests. Almost every charter yacht is limited to 12 guests, whatever the length, so a 44 metre yacht sleeps no more than a 35 metre one; the extra metres go into bigger cabins, more deck and a larger crew. Of the roughly 70 motor yachts of this size on our Greek list, 12 guests is the most common figure (37 of them), then 10 (21). For bigger groups, see our Greek yachts for 12+ guests.
Cabins and crew. Five cabins is the norm (37 of those motor yachts), then six (25). Crew counts appear on fewer than half of these listings; where they do, it is usually 6 to 9 people.
Where you board. Seven of the ten below list Athens as their base port, so most weeks start and end around Athens, with the Saronic islands a short run away and the Cyclades a longer crossing. The meltemi. In July and August the meltemi, the dry northerly summer wind of the Aegean, can blow hard for days through the Cyclades. Speed decides how long you spend on an exposed crossing, and on the ten below cruising speeds run from 11 knots (KATHLEEN ANNE) to 24 knots (HAKUNA MATATA). Who builds them. Benetti leads the named yards in this band in Greece with 5 yachts, then Heesen, CRN and Tecnomar with 4 each, and ISA, Maiora, Sunseeker, Azimut and Sanlorenzo with 3 each.
What it costs. Across those motor yachts, the lower tenth list from €42,000 per week or less, the middle sits around €100,000 per week, and the top tenth start from €150,000 or more. K2 is a 2024 Sanlorenzo, 117 feet long, based in Athens and cruising Greece. She takes 11 guests in 5 cabins, and she is the newest build on this list.

9. HAKUNA MATATA
“The Fastest Cruiser Here”
HAKUNA MATATA is a 2009 Couach, 121 feet (36.9 m) long, refitted in 2023 and based in Athens. She takes 12 guests in 6 cabins, and at 24 knots she has the fastest cruising speed on this list, which makes a Saronic and Cyclades week with several island stops easier to fit in.
Her tender is a 5.4 m Novurania with a 220 hp outboard, with jet skis, water skis for adults and kids, and kayaks. Rates run from €105,000 per week, plus APA.
8. VOLO MARE
“A Tri-Deck With a Jacuzzi on the Bow”
VOLO MARE is a 2023 Azimut tri-deck, 125.4 feet (38.23 m) long, based in Athens and listed in Greece for both summer and winter. She takes 12 guests in 6 cabins, in either five doubles and a twin or three twins and three doubles, so the same boat works for couples or for a family with children.

1. BLISS
“Seven Cabins at 144 Feet”
BLISS is the longest yacht on this list, a 2007 Heesen of 144 feet (44 m), refitted in 2019 and 2025. Her listing puts Greece first among her cruising areas. She takes 12 guests in 7 cabins, the most cabins here, and cruises at 16 knots with a top speed of 24.
Her toys include jet skis, a windsurfer, water skis, a wakeboard and 2 paddleboards. Rates run from €195,000 per week, plus APA.

Choosing Within the Class
Length is the easy number, and not the one to choose on. In Greece, speed and base port matter more. HAKUNA MATATA, VOLO MARE, ABILITY, AQUA LIBRA and WHITE KNIGHT all cruise at 18 knots or more, so they spend less of the week on crossings from Athens to the Cyclades. PALATIAL, HOW MUCH IS ENOUGH and K2 cruise at 13 to 14 knots, a pace that fits a week around the Saronic and the Peloponnese coast. Listed beams run from 7.3 m (HAKUNA MATATA) to 9.1 m (KATHLEEN ANNE); beam is only a rough guide to space, so ask us for deck plans.
