Captain: Andreas Voulgaris

Captain Andreas Voulgaris
Andreas is a holder of the RYA’s Yachtmaster Ocean and he is also certified for GMDSS Long Range Operations, firefighting and lifesaving.
He speaks English fluently.He grew up in a family business that is owning, chartering and providing assistance to yachts. Since the year 2000 he has been working as skipper in sailing and power vessels all around the Mediterranean. His first charters started with sailing vessels in the Sporades islands (Skiathos, Skopelos, Alonisos) located in the Northern Aegean sea. He stayed there for 2 years doing weekly sailing trips as captain. Then he moved to Athens and Lavrion where he got to know the Cyclades islands (Mykonos, Paros, Syros, Santorini etc) very well. The Last 6 years he is based at the Ionian Sea where he acquired perfect knowledge of the area’s attractions and weather conditions. Over the years and countless miles he has developed excellent seamanship. He is a people pleaser and has a great sense of humor.
Andreas has two daughters, In his spare time he is an enthusiastic road cyclist and a swimmer.

Georgios, the talented chef aboard the sailing yacht Helene, has been delighting guests with his culinary expertise since 2008. With a passion for crafting exquisite dishes that showcase fresh, local ingredients, Georgios ensures that every meal aboard is a memorable experience. His dedication to his craft is further enriched by his completion of bar academy seminars, adding a refined touch to his culinary and beverage offerings. Georgios brings a blend of creativity and precision to the kitchen, making him a valued member of the Helene crew.

We always pondered what paradise really was and having the privilege of sailing on SY Helene solved this problem. Being with you spending time on this glorious craft was an experience of a lifetime. We loved the charming spots, the beautiful scenery and of course Chef’s scrumptious cuisine. Captain you are the most gifted, competent and professional of all the others that we have sailed before!! CRUISING IN THE CYCLADES AND DHODHECANESE ISLANDS <3 <3 <3
Our cruise developed exactly in the way we planned it without any inconvenient and under the constant support of the crew, beyond our expectations. The boat is in excellent conditions, the captain Andreas is a great professional sailor plus a pleasant, discrete and flexible person to whom you may ask anything, he will make it happen. Dimitra is hand wonder, creative chef, excellent deck helper, always smiling! Everything was perfect!!

Thank you so much for such a wonderful trip. It was unlike any other sailing/ yachting experience. You two made our stay seamless and effortless. We have enjoyed the rustic elegance of the Helene and it has been the perfect boat to sail to see all of the Cyclades.

We had an amazing week discovering the Ionian Seas. Through stormy days and excellent sailing weather, Andreas and Mary always kept it safe, friendly and professional.
Thank you Mary for the extra protein meals and wonderful cooking. Andreas for his patience is sharing and teaching our newly acquired sailing skills; figure 8 knot, anchoring, zodiac…
A big thank you for helping Oliver get on his skills for the first time.
We sadly say goodbye for now but we will surely be back for our next sailing adventure 😊

Lesson learned! We have always resisted getting a crewed charter because we have always preferred to sail ourselves – not because we are the words best sailors but because we worried about spending so long with strangers. We were wrong! Andreas was very calm and always very cheerful and patient. Mary is the most wonderful hostess, a fabulous cook and so good at taking care of the youngest passenger Henry aged 9. We were very relaxed and can honestly say that we could not have been looked after better by so staff! The attention to detail has been outstanding. We hope to see you again!

Since the year 2000 he has been working as skipper in sailing and power vessels all around the Mediterranean. His first charters started with sailing vessels in the Sporades islands (Skiathos, Skopelos, Alonisos) located in the Northern Aegean sea. He stayed there for 2 years doing weekly sailing trips as captain. Then he moved to Athens and Lavrion where he got to know the Cyclades islands (Mykonos, Paros, Syros, Santorini etc) very well. The Last 6 years he is based at the Ionian Sea where he acquired perfect knowledge of the area’s attractions and weather conditions. Over the years and countless miles he has developed excellent seamanship. He is a people pleaser and has a great sense of humor.<br /> Andreas has two daughters, In his spare time he is an enthusiastic road cyclist and a swimmer.<br /> <br /> Cook/Steward Nikolaos Melas<br /> Nikolas is specialized in Mediterranean cuisine and her cooking style can be described as fresh and healthy as she is using the freshest ingredients that are available in the market of each port and presented to a very high standard. His personal qualities as creativity, punctuality, commitment, adaptability along with her organizing skills and friendly personality make his a valuable part of Helene's crew. He has worked in in various motor yachts from 2007 s a steward and Chef and various restaurants as Four seasons Astir Palace. He holds degrees from Professional culinary arts of IEK Akmi & Food and Beverage management of Le monde Culinary School. Previous yachts: M/y Albatross, M/y Loulou, M/y Joanna K.
