Greece Yacht Charter Prices and Weather by Month (2027 Season)

Last updated: September 2026

The cheapest months in our data are April, May and October. On mygreekcharter.com’s published list rates (the rate in effect on the 15th of each month: 2027 season list rates for April to September, and the latest published rate, from 2026, for October), motor yacht medians in those months are 17 to 18% below the June to September median, and the October sailing catamaran median is 24% below July and August. The sea is warmest in August, at roughly 25 to 26°C, and the meltemi wind peaks from July to August in the Cyclades.

This page puts the two things side by side, month by month from April to October: what a crewed yacht costs, and what the weather does. Crewed yachts are generally not chartering in Greece from November to March, so those months are left out. For how the week’s price is built, see our Greece yacht charter cost guide. For a fuller month-by-month view of the season, see our guide to when to charter a yacht in Greece.

How much does a Greek yacht charter cost each month?

On published rates, a crewed motor yacht in Greece has a median of €45,000 to €45,500 per week in April, May and October and €55,000 from June to September. A crewed sailing catamaran has a median of €18,500 to €20,000 in April, May and October, rising to €24,200 in July and August.

Median weekly rates, 2027 season (October: latest published rate, 2026)

Month Motor yacht, median per week (n yachts) Sailing catamaran, median per week (n yachts) % of peak (motor / catamaran)
April €45,000 (227) €19,500 (109) 82% / 81%
May €45,500 (232) €20,000 (115) 83% / 83%
June €55,000 (232) €22,000 (111) 100% / 91%
July €55,000 (237) €24,200 (122) 100% / 100%
August €55,000 (237) €24,200 (122) 100% / 100%
September €55,000 (229) €22,000 (105) 100% / 91%
October €45,500 (232) €18,500 (117) 83% / 76%

How we worked this out: we took the weekly base rate in effect on the 15th of each month (the next occurrence of that month) from the published rate periods of 505 Greece-based yachts priced in euros on mygreekcharter. October’s figure is the latest published (2026) rate, so part of the October gap may be the change in rates from one year to the next.com. The figures are 2027 season list rates for April to September; October is the latest published rate, from 2026. The rates were read on 30 September 2026, and took the median for motor yachts and for sailing catamarans separately. These are published list rates, not booked prices. Peak is the highest monthly median for each type, so the percentages show how far below peak each month sits. Rates are the weekly base before VAT, APA (advance provisioning allowance) and gratuity. The number of yachts behind each median is shown in brackets. The medians mix boats of very different sizes, so they are not a quote for one yacht. Because each figure is the rate on the 15th, the data shows months, not weeks. April figures are list rates; the crewed season runs mainly May to October, so ask about April availability.

Published charter guides put the crewed shoulder-season discount at 15 to 25% below peak, and our own medians sit in the same range (17 to 24%). Our monthly snapshot cannot see late September, which the guides include: on 15 September our motor yacht median is still at peak and the catamaran median is about 9% below it.

Those are base rates only. On yachts that charge an advance provisioning allowance (APA) for fuel, food and other running costs, the median is 30% of the base rate across the yachts on mygreekcharter.com that state it, with a range of 25 to 40% for the middle half. A gratuity of 10 to 15% of the base rate is customary, and VAT applies where it is due.

For catamarans the drop is deepest in October (76% of peak). For motor yachts April is lowest (82%), with May and October at 83%. June and September are at 91% of peak for catamarans and at peak for motor yachts. For a worked example of how VAT, APA and gratuity add up, see the cost guide. For median weekly rates by yacht type and length, see our Greece yacht charter statistics.

Air temperatures are mean daily maximums from Hellenic National Meteorological Service (HNMS) stations at Athens Elliniko and Corfu, and from National Observatory of Athens (NOA) data for Mykonos, as tabulated on Wikipedia, which cites HNMS and NOA; the periods differ, so read them as typical values. Athens is a stand-in for the Saronic. Sea temperatures are satellite-based monthly means for Mykonos, Naxos, Corfu and Athens from seatemperature.org, shown as the range across those four. Mean wind speeds are from climatestotravel.com for Mykonos and are converted to knots here; they include calm days, so they sit below the force 5 to 7 of a typical meltemi spell.

About the meltemi. It blows on and off from about mid-May to mid-September and is frequent from mid-July to mid-August, typically force 5 to 7, and force 8 or more in strong episodes. A spell can last up to seven days at the stations studied, and our meltemi guide puts typical spells at three to six days. It is strongest in the Cyclades; in the Dodecanese it is often force 4 to 6. The Saronic feels far less of it, and the Ionian sits outside the system, with an afternoon north-westerly sea breeze of about 7 to 21 kt in summer instead. There is no official count of force 6 days by month for Greece, so we describe the wind by season rather than by number. Our meltemi guide covers it in detail, and what happens if the weather changes on your charter explains how a crew reroutes.

Rain. Rain is light from June to August, at about one day a month or less at Mykonos and three to five at Corfu. October is wetter, with roughly five rainy days at Mykonos and eleven at Corfu. Corfu records more rainy days than Mykonos in October, but rain-day thresholds differ between stations, so treat these as rough.

Which month is best for a yacht charter in Greece?

The best month for a yacht charter in Greece depends on what you want from the week, but for warm sea and a lighter meltemi it is June or September: the sea is 22 to 23°C in June and 23 to 25°C in September. On published rates, sailing catamaran medians in those months are about 9% below the July and August peak, while motor yacht medians stay at the peak of €55,000. The short answers:

  • Calm water and families: June, in the Ionian or the Saronic. The sea is about 22 to 23°C, the meltemi has not reached full strength, the Saronic feels far less of the meltemi than the Cyclades, and the Ionian is outside the meltemi system, with an afternoon sea breeze of about 7 to 21 kt in summer.
  • Sailing wind: July and August in the Cyclades, where the meltemi is at its peak. June and September have a lighter meltemi (mean wind at Mykonos 22.9 and 23.5 km/h, against 28.2 and 29.0 km/h in July and August).
  • Swimming: August is the warmest month for the sea, at roughly 25 to 26°C, with September close behind at 23 to 25°C.
  • Busiest and liveliest: July and August, with 15 August the busiest week on the water.
  • Lower rates: April, May and October (for April, check availability). Our median motor yacht rate is 17 to 18% below the June to September median in those months, and the October catamaran median is 24% below July and August.
  • Avoiding crowds: April, May and October are the quietest months in our experience. The sea is cooler in April, at about 16°C, which suits sightseeing more than swimming.

If you can only choose one week, September is a reasonable compromise: sea at 23 to 25°C and the meltemi easing from August (mean wind at Mykonos 23.5 km/h against 29.0 km/h), though motor yacht medians are still at peak. Our guide to the best time to charter in Greece goes into more detail on the season.

Which region should you pick for your month?

Choose the Ionian or the Saronic for sheltered water, the Cyclades for the classic island itinerary outside the meltemi peak, and the Cyclades or the Dodecanese in July and August if your guests enjoy a lively sail. The Ionian is the calmest mainstream region, the Saronic feels far less of the meltemi than the Cyclades and suits short hops, and the Cyclades are the windiest. Charter guides put typical daily runs at 10 to 25 nm in the Saronic, 10 to 20 nm in the Ionian and 25 to 40 nm in the Cyclades.

  • April and May: Saronic and Cyclades. There is no meltemi in April and only first spells from mid-May, the sea is still cool and the islands are quiet.
  • June: any region. The Cyclades have a lighter meltemi before the July and August peak, and the Ionian is outside the meltemi system.
  • July and August: Ionian for calmer days, Saronic for short hops, Cyclades and Dodecanese for guests who want wind and the big-name islands. The meltemi is active in the Dodecanese from June to September, often force 4 to 6, and can reach force 8 or more in strong episodes in the Cyclades, so crews plan crossings around it.
  • September: Cyclades, when the wind eases and the sea is still warm.
  • October: Saronic and Cyclades. Corfu records more rainy days than Mykonos in October, so the Ionian may see more rain.

Our Cyclades vs Ionian vs Saronic comparison sets the three regions side by side, and the meltemi guide shows where the wind bites hardest.
