Chora is the reason Folegandros feels so different from many Cyclades stops. Inside Chora, the Kastro (fortified quarter) reflects the island’s defensive past and still shapes the tight, protective layout of the old settlement.

Do the Panagia walk for the classic Folegandros sunset view

The walk up to Panagia is short (approximately a 15-minutes), straightforward, and delivers the big payoff: a panoramic viewpoint above Chora. It is the island’s signature pre-dinner ritual.

Swim at Katergo Beach

Katergo Beach is the swim stop everyone talks about because it feels wild: steep cliffs, clear water, and no built-up beach scene.

It’s also very yacht-friendly: the island’s official tourism site notes the easiest access is by local boat from Karavostasis (about 10 minutes), which is exactly why it shines as a tender/swim stop on charter.

Explore Chrysospilia Cave (conditions permitting)

If you want one thing that makes Folegandros feel deeper than “pretty Cyclades,” it’s Chrysospilia Cave. It’s known for ancient inscriptions (names) dated mainly to the 4th century BC.

Access is by boat and depends on calm conditions. It adds a distinctive historical element to an island otherwise defined by landscape and setting.
