Jet skis are one of the most requested water toys on luxury yacht charters in Greece, but having a jet ski onboard does not automatically mean every guest can drive it. Many yacht charter guests discover late in the booking process that they do not have the license required to operate a jet ski themselves. ➜ Get a temporary jet ski license on your charter
An RYA water sports center onboard means the yacht is set up to deliver approved personal watercraft training during the charter. In practice, this can allow a guest to complete the required safety instruction onboard and receive a temporary certificate for the charter period.
This is not the same as arriving with a full, permanent personal watercraft license. It is a charter-specific solution, handled by yachts that have the right setup, instructor, and approval. It must always be confirmed yacht by yacht before the contract is signed.

BLISS
Rare onboard RYA school: guests can be certified for jet ski use during the charter. The toy setup is serious, with a large beach club, bar and sun beds, wing foil instructor, and a 70-knot chase boat.
AKIRA ONE
Onboard RYA licensing means guests can use the jet ski during the charter. AKIRA ONE backs it up with 3 jet skis, water skis, Seabobs, and 2 water bikes.
THUNDER
Onboard licensing can be arranged for either a charter-duration jet ski certificate or a more extensive permanent option. THUNDER also brings a 40ft chase boat with cabin and 2 jet skis.
MY MAYVA
RYA certification can be completed onboard, so guests can use the 3 jet skis without arriving licensed. The toy list also includes 4 Seabobs, paddleboards, eFoil, and a beach club gym.

RYA jet ski certification can be completed onboard and covers guests while on charter. For clients without a license, this is one of the cleanest ways to unlock the water toys.

An onboard RYA instructor can handle the jet ski license for the charter week. It is a straightforward solution to one of the most common jet ski problems in Greece.

Full RYA school onboard, so guests can complete a jet ski license that counts for the charter week. GHOST III also carries a 38ft chase tender for up to 12 guests.

Common Questions
Is the onboard RYA certificate permanent?
Usually no. The onboard personal watercraft certificate is normally intended to cover jet ski use during that specific charter. If you want a permanent personal watercraft license, it is better to arrange that before the trip or ask your broker which course is appropriate.
Can every guest on the yacht get certified?
Not automatically. It depends on the yacht, the instructor, the guest’s age and ability, the itinerary, the weather, sea conditions, and captain approval. We confirm the practical details with the yacht before recommending it as a solution.
Does every yacht with a jet ski allow guests to drive it?
No. A yacht may carry one or more jet skis, but guests still need permission and the correct license or certification to operate them. Some yachts can train guests onboard; many cannot.
What should I confirm before booking a yacht for jet ski use?
Confirm whether the yacht has an RYA Water Sports Centre or onboard instructor, whether certification is available for your dates, who in your group wants to drive, any age or ability requirements, and whether the itinerary gives enough time and conditions for training.
Should I get a jet ski license before charter or choose an RYA yacht?
If you want maximum flexibility, getting licensed before the charter is the safest option. If the trip is soon, or you prefer to handle it onboard, choosing a yacht with an RYA Water Sports Centre can be the easier route, as long as the setup is confirmed before booking.
