Greek Yacht Charter 2026: Over 20% of the International Market, Higher Spend, More Americans

Greece closed its 2026 charter season with the same number of charters as 2025 and more money spent on them. The Greek Association of Maritime Tourism published its season review on 20 October 2026: Greece holds over 20 percent of the international charter market by the association’s own count, demand for the top-end yachts rose, mid-range yachts slipped a little, and American clients grew again.

We put that next to our own calendars. On 2 November 2026, 157 of the 546 crewed yachts listed for Greece already show a confirmed July or August 2027 charter. Among catamarans it is 93 of 186, exactly half.

Broker insight

The association's numbers match what we saw all summer: the same number of weeks, bigger boats, bigger budgets and a lot of Americans. For next July the pressure is on the catamarans. Half the crewed cats in Greece already show a July or August 2027 charter, so if a 60 to 80 foot cat is your boat, we put a hold on it this winter. The motor yachts are the quieter side of the market, about one in six booked, so a 100 to 130 foot yacht for ten in July still has real choice. Either way you get the full week price, with VAT and APA, before you decide.

What the 2026 season looked like

The association’s review, reported by Mononews and Epixeiro on 20 October, gives no percentages. It gives directions, and they all point the same way:

  • Charter numbers level with 2025. Total charter value up.
  • Luxury yachts: demand up significantly. Mid-range yachts: slightly down. Budget yachts: slightly up.
  • American clients up again, described as high-spending and asking for personalised service. Germany, the UK, France and Switzerland steady. The Middle East, Australia and Asia down. South America up.
  • More last-minute bookings than in 2025.
  • Early 2027 enquiries and bookings point upward.

The association’s president, Ioannis Kourounis, said Greece “maintains an exceptionally strong position, with significant comparative advantages, from the natural environment to the quality of the fleet.”

What our calendars say about July and August 2027

We read the booking calendar of every crewed yacht listed for Greece on the central-agency system on 2 November 2026, nine months before the season:

  • All crewed yachts: 157 of 546 show a confirmed charter in July or August 2027. That is 29 percent.
  • Catamarans: 93 of 186, or 50 percent. The 2026 builds went first: AMAREA is booked 24 to 31 July, ALINA 18 July to 1 August, CHRISTAL MIO 80 30 June to 7 July.
  • Motor yachts: 41 of 263, or 16 percent. The big ones are moving, MAIA 10 to 24 July and ORIY 13 to 20 July, and so are the well-known 100 to 130 footers like MAKANI II and GOLDEN YACHT. Most of the fleet in between still shows nothing.
  • Croatia on the same day: 139 of 270, or 52 percent.

A calendar with nothing on it is not a free boat. Managers enter bookings late and holds come and go, so we confirm every week with the yacht before you commit.

What this means for your 2027 charter

If you want a catamaran in Greece next July or August, book this winter. Half of them are gone nine months out, and the newest 60 to 80 footers went first.

If you want a motor yacht, you have choice, and the association’s own numbers say why: the mid-range is where demand softened in 2026. A 100 to 130 foot yacht for ten guests at €60,000 to €100,000 a week has the widest range of open boats we have seen at this point in the year.

Last-minute worked for some people in 2026. It will not work for a catamaran in 2027.
