Psathi

Location

The town of Psathi, or Chora as the Greeks call it, is the most popular stop for sightseeing in Kimolos. You will see a chapel and four windmills as soon as you sail through from the easter end, through Sikinos. It is an active bay with a bustling crowd, a few houses and cafes built farther into the land, and a quay for caique ferries.

Mooring at Psathi

Psathi has a quay that services a ferry for travel to and from the island. You may use this quay to anchor, or if you prefer some privacy, go south and stick to the sandy coast. Towards the north side of the bay is where anchoring for private yachts is recommended. However, the holding is poor, so you should slide the anchor deep in. Enough sand, rock, and weed will help you there. The suggested anchor is two to three meters.

You may also sail southwards and hole up between Psathi and Pirgonisi anchorages. However, this entire southeast shoreline is open to the meltemi. Caution is highly recommended, especially if you are sailing in choppy waters.

At Psathi, you can also use the caique ferry to and from Milos.

Provisioning and Services

Provisioning is limited but you will find some tavernas for refreshments across the shoreline. Towards the ferry are also villas and small houses that sometimes sell provisions, but it depends on the season you are visiting in.

Psathi is the only anchorage with a transport facility via the caique ferry. You can travel to and from the neighboring Milos.
