Overview

Orgias, also known as Otzias, is a remote and secluded cove at the northernmost tip of Kea island. There is a small, rocky beach.

Despite its stark landscape, there is no shortage of great activities to enjoy when you visit Kea. From the vibrant and stylish ports of Vourkari and Kourissia to the long sandy beaches, there are endless opportunities for fun and relaxation. It’s a paradise for swimmers snorkellers and surfers, of course.  For scuba fans, there are also some great dive sites, with fascinating wrecks to explore as well as a plethora of incredible sea life.

The steep slopes and winding paths of the interior are ideal for hiking and, when you’ve finally completed a challenging hilltop climb, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views and the sense of freedom that only comes when you’re this far from the madding crowd.

 Navigation

Sometimes referred to as Otzias, this small bay on the northern tip of the island is only suitable for anchoring in calm weather.

Take care to avoid the reef which extends 50-100m from the shore on the east side and anchor at 5m-6m. Caution should be exercised as a rock 0.4m above water has been reported east of the entrance, but may not be visible at all times.

A swimming area is marked off by a line of buoys.

General Information

There are no facilities available in Orgias, and nowhere to obtain provisions, so come prepared with everything you’ll need. It’s a remote spot with only a few houses found nearby.

In summer a tavern opens serving refreshments and local dishes.

Orgias Bay is one of only two spots on Kea where scuba diving is not allowed, to preserve the condition of important underwater archaeological sites. However, it’s fine to swim and snorkel.
