Read MoreOrmos Petros is an anchorage in Andros.
Andros is a charter location in Cyclades, a yacht charter area in Greece.
The anchorages on Andros:
Location
Ormos Petros is located east of Gavrio, the primary harbour on the island of Andros. A large bay with one of the largest beaches on the island, this area is popular with holiday goers for its golden sand and relaxing atmosphere. The bay directly to the E is called Golden Beach and is arguably the most cosmopolitan and popular spot on the island. Visitors can expect all standard amenities including sunbeds and umbrellas for hire and family-friendly. There is also a bus connection to other villages on the island
Navigation
The area is open and provides poor shelter from the Meltemi winds. If the weather is good it is best to anchor on the NW side of the beach. Depth reaches 3-4m with a sand and weed bottom. You might feel the passage approaching Gavrion. There are plenty of swimmers and a few yacht charters to be seen here.
Provisioning
There are a couple of tavernas and beach bars during the summer for food, drink and basic necessities. A small mini-market also operates nearby.
Capacity and Technical Data
Ormos Petros is popular with locals and tourists alike but is by far quieter than nearby Golden Sand. It is commonly known as Agios Petros beach. For more options when it comes to dining and nightlife the harbour of Gavrion is a preferred spot. The beach also has water sports and windsurfing activities.
Here is a video showing the beach of Agios Petros and the natural beauty that yacht charters in Andros can enjoy.
