The small bay at Roussa is found on Donoussa’s north-eastern tip at 37°07.4′N, 25°49.3′E. Open only to South Easterly winds, the bay at Roussa is partly protected by Skilonisi, a tiny islet at the mouth of the bay.
Roussa has two good anchorages, the southern side is perfect in mild conditions at over 8-10 metre depth, while you can best avoid the harsher conditions of the Meltemi by anchoring in Roussa’s northern corner. Although it is safer entering the bay from SE, the channel between Donoussa and Skilonisi offers good depth. The bay has a rocky bottom so finding a good holding can be tricky.
Holding is best at the west side but the swell has more effect here which can sometimes be uncomfortable.
General Information
It is relatively uninhabited with nearby Kalotaritissa beach being the closest thing to a tourist spot in close proximity. You won’t find amenities here, it is quite remote with mostly dirt roads and a small farm being the only noise or intrusion you will come across.
By sea, drifting in and out of Roussa is a treat for those seeking the seclusion and tranquillity of an often-uninhibited bay.
