Apollonia is an anchorage in Milos.

Milos is a charter location in Cyclades, a yacht charter area in Greece.

The anchorages on Milos:

Apollonia, also known as Pollonia, is a small fishing village located on the northeast tip of Milos. If you’re looking for a small day trip from Milos, this is the perfect anchorage for you.

Navigating towards Apollonia

You’ll find the port of Apollonia on the Southside of Stenón Mílou Kimolou, right under the outreach of Ak Pelekoùdha. As you move East into the bay, you need to watch out for shallow reefs located around the North and South entrances. Be sure to come in directly from the East, giving space to the North and South sides of the bay.

Anchoring in Apollonia

The first place you can anchor will be between 2-4 m out of the East side of the bay. You could also anchor slightly further out, just off the hamlet on the Southside of the coast. Be careful to stay at least 4 meters away from the shore, as there are reefs. At this point, there is a good sand base that will make anchoring easy.

If the weather is good and waves are manageable, you can navigate to the East side of the pier. This has depths of 2-3 m. Stick to the Eastside as the end of the pier will often be used by ferry boats.

About Apollonia

Apollonia is home to only 272 residents, giving this settlement a small-town atmosphere. Although not many people live here, it’s home to a thriving tourist industry. You’ll also find rich fields where residents grow crops – mainly peppers and zucchini.

The town has several tree-lined beaches, giving you several options if you’re looking to lounge in the sun. Along the seafront, you’ll find several authentic Greek tavernas, where you’ll find food at all hours. The shallow water makes this beach great for families with younger children.

At any of these locations, you cannot cross the line of buoys. These signal the swimming area, where absolutely no anchoring is permitted.

What to do in Apollonia

A short 6-mile ferry ride from Pollonia will take you to the island of Kimolos. This tiny island is perfect for a short getaway, with traditional blue and white houses adorning the coastline. Anchor in the port and swim the short distance to the beautiful shore. You’ll find beautiful beaches, friendly locals, and rows of traditional tiered farming.

If you want something on-land, check out the POSPOM (Pron. Poss-POHM) building, which puts on events for locals and visitors. You’ll find cultural activities, art shows, music concerts, and more!

Alternatively, you can walk to the Pelekouda peninsula. Navigate to the northeast edge of Apollonia to find the heart of the town. Here, you can walk through authentic lodgings, chat with locals, or enjoy one of the many tavernas offered.
