Transcript — Captain Alex on Daiquiri: A Lagoon 65 for Charter in Greece
Captain Alex: I love this boat because we built this boat with a Greek word that we call Meraki. Meraki means that everything that you can do, you can do it and to love it very, very, very much. So Meraki in Greek means that everything that you can do, you can do it with love. For this reason, this is something special for me because we built this with love.
Broker: Daiquiri, a Lagoon 65, carries up to 10 guests in five cabins. Beautiful boat. Teak decks, nice and large outside. Beautiful saloon table, very comfortable seating. We have a saloon dining area as well. So this is a 65-footer. There is such a big difference even from 52 to 55. There is a really big difference. She has a much newer finish inside, much larger cabins, a lot more storage. She's got a much larger saloon area and offers just generally a lot more space on the boat: larger cockpit, larger foredeck, larger cabins, more comfortable cabins. Another big difference moving from a 52-foot catamaran would be the accommodation offered for the crew. Generally, from size 55 feet up, you would be able to have a chef on board. So you would have a stewardess or stew, you'd have your captain, and you'd have a chef during your charter.
Captain Alex: I think that the galley down is better than the galley up because the children or the guests want to sit, to relax upstairs. So if we have the galley up, I think that it's just a little bit a problem.
Broker: Yeah, it does split the space up a little bit. So you will only have a lounging area. You wouldn't have a dining area inside. If the weather is not so great, it's a really comfortable place to have, which you can't have if you have the galley, or as comfortably as this if you have the galley up. When you have a crew of three on the larger vessels, the service is a lot more, is a lot easier for the crew to manage.
Captain Alex: Each cabin has separate air conditioning and you can choose the temperature. During the night, during the dinner, our stewardess comes here and prepares for a night service. For this reason, you will see waters, small pieces of chocolate, and the pillow is lying down. So they prepare the atmosphere for the night.
Broker: Yes, the carpet is quite unique. Not everybody has it. This boat also has two sets of carpets. So after each charter, a set of carpets goes to the laundry to be washed. New carpets get put on the boat. So each charter will have a clean set of carpeting on board. As you would have seen, we've got a walkthrough from the saloon into the cockpit onto the foredeck, which is a really comfortable place to be. We also got plenty of water toys. We got Captain Alex is a ski instructor. My son is a very good ski athlete, so I train him every year to be, I think that one day I do a champion of Greece. So I love to teach all the guests how to ski. Very important.
Broker: You often have clients that request certain toys on the boat. They want to achieve certain goals while they're on their charter. Daiquiri would, for example, offer any children wanting to learn to ski that don't have that opportunity. Captain Alex is the perfect match. So here we have the nicest flybridge. She offers a really fantastic space with a hardtop. We got some skylights.
Captain Alex: Look at the stores. Speed of this boat is 10 knots and the fuel consumption is about 40 liters per hour, the two engines. Yeah, two engines, two generators.
Broker: And you'd be consuming under power for 40 liters an hour.
Captain Alex: When we are going outside of our base, we put the sails on and most of the week we sail only with the sails.
Broker: I think the Lagoon, just as a brand, is a fantastic boat. So well built, well designed. The Lagoon 65 offers a tremendous amount of space, speed, comfort. Great crew on board are definitely a boat to consider.
