How much cash should we bring on a Greece yacht charter?

Bring some cash in euros for the small, on-the-day things: a taxi from the airport, a coffee at a beach taverna, a shop on one of the smaller islands, or a scooter deposit ashore. Cards work almost everywhere, including aboard, but a handful of tavernas and taxi drivers on the quieter islands are cash-only, and the one ATM on a small island can be out of order or queued on a Saturday changeover day.

Keep the crew gratuity separate from your spending cash. In Greece that is usually handed to the captain in cash, in euros, at the end of the charter, and our tipping guide covers the normal range.

As a rough guide, EUR 100 to 200 per person in small notes covers a week of incidentals; carry more if you plan to shop ashore. The charter fee itself, VAT and APA are always settled by bank transfer well before you board, never in cash.
