Kos Yacht Charter Guide

Kos is one of the most practical Dodecanese yacht charter bases because it has good airport access, a useful marina, and easy routing toward Leros, Kalymnos, Patmos, Lipsi, Nisyros, Symi, and Rhodes. We usually recommend Kos when clients want the Dodecanese feeling without making every day a long passage.

For our clients, Kos works best as a start or finish point, not just as a sightseeing stop. It gives the itinerary a strong operational base, while the surrounding islands add the quieter harbors, monastery towns, and remote swim stops that make the Dodecanese interesting by yacht.

Best For

  • Dodecanese yacht charters starting or ending with easy airport logistics
  • Routes combining Kos with Leros, Patmos, Lipsi, Kalymnos, Nisyros, Symi, or Rhodes
  • Groups who want a practical base plus smaller-island cruising
  • Motor yachts and catamarans that need a sensible southern Dodecanese route
  • Clients who want Greek island variety without relying only on the Cyclades

Highlights

  • Kos Town: The main arrival point, with restaurants, provisioning, marina access, and enough life ashore to make the first or last evening easy.
  • Asklepion of Kos: One of the island’s key historical sites and a good land excursion if your charter schedule allows time ashore.
  • Therma Beach: A known hot-spring beach on the south-east coast, best treated as a weather- and timing-dependent stop.
  • Kefalos Bay: A useful west-side area for beach time and a more relaxed feel away from Kos Town.
  • Nisyros day option: We like Nisyros from Kos when clients want something different: a volcanic island, Mandraki village, and a much less obvious Dodecanese stop.

Kos Anchorage

Kos is more useful as a marina and routing base than as a remote anchorage island. Kos Marina and Kos Town are the practical points for boarding, provisioning, and overnight logistics, while anchorages around the island depend on the yacht, wind direction, and how the captain wants to position the route.
