CAPTAIN/ENGINEER: Vincenzo Picciurro
Born in 1992, has been a sailing enthusiast since childhood. After years of competitive regattas (which have been his passion since the age of 8, when he started with Optimists), he turned his hobby into a professional venture opening Ventinodi in 2018. Ventinodi is a company which offers charter services on a wonderful 15 metre boat, ideal for sailing in the most breathtaking bays of Sicily. Thanks to several years in the charter activity with his own company VENTINODI, he decided to move to a bigger vessel: he has been working during the past winter months on WHALE, to take care of the maintenance works and to know better any detail of the catamaran.
He is a keen racer, in fact he won several regattas in the “laser” class, where he was considered one of the fastest skippers. He also won some High Seas regattas, such as The Middle Sea Race, an Italian Championship, and won the Palermo-Montecarlo three times.
A professional skipper, since he was 20, he has gathered a wide, faithful and appreciative portfolio of clients due to his kind heart and care for both the guests and his boat. As a careful listener, he is always ready and able to fulfill his clients’ every need and is always well mannered and extremely polite.
Vincenzo is both expert and highly competent. He holds the Italian Unlimited Licence, the Yacht Master Offshore with Commercial Endorsement, the First Aid Course certificate, and all the STCW Courses, as well as the FIV instructor’s certificate.
CHEF: Stefano Alaimo
Born in Palermo, Architect, after his University Degree he decided to follow his passion: cuisine. He went to UK, where he had the opportunity to come up beside a Michelin starred Chef for 5 years. He became a very skilled and experienced Chef, improving also his English, that is now great and fluent. Thanks to his passion for the sea, he started his collaboration with BR1 (the management company of WHALE) obtaining a position as Chef onboard of this nice charter catamaran. This is his first season on Whale, and he is very eager to pamper his guests with a wide choice of Mediterranean recipes, many coming from his grandmother, updated and revised with unforgettable personal touches. Healthy cuisine, great presentations and use of fresh and local product with lot of fantasy. He is an excellent Bartender as well.
